Denson’s campaign gave a statement to the press before the event:

“Denson has spent nearly 15 years in public service and community organizing in Athens, bringing a track record of proactive leadership and policy successes. As an Athens-Clarke County Commissioner, he championed policies that established the county’s inclusionary housing policy, living wages for all ACC employees, and created the ACC eviction prevention program. As a member of the Clarke County School Board, Denson has championed unprecedented wage increases for CCSD employees, budget transparency, and the creation of the CCSD sustainability plan & coordinator. He aims to bring a “bias toward action” to the mayor’s office.”

“’This campaign will be one of hope and possibility during a time of fear and uncertainty,'”‘ said Denson. “We can, and must, build an Athens where every resident has access to housing, safety, and a transparent, engaged local government. Let’s make Athens a community that is affordable, thriving and just!”
