Helping families thrive — Bennett’s main focus is helping working families thrive in Athens. “Seeing mothers working, not having an affordable place to find for their children, living in cars…[That] really was one of the things that ignited me to get into this race,” Bennett told APN. Bennett wants to help people find affordable places to live and she wants to encourage businesses to pay living wages.
Youth development — Bennett was one of the founders of Cultivate a Lifetime of Legacy, a nonprofit organization that mentors children and young adults. It is “dedicated to empowering, inspiring, and exposing youth to opportunities that prepare them for lifelong success.”
Experience
Bennett has a masters in youth development leadership from Clemson University and is currently a PhD candidate in public administration at Liberty University. She serves on the Clarke Central High School Local School Governance Team, she’s been PTO President at Burney-Harris-Lyons and she has attended the ACC Citizens’ Government Academy and Police Citizens Academy programs.
