The following is a press release from Mayday Health, an abortion pill education nonprofit. They’ve been flying banners over sporting events — including in Athens recently — to remind people that you can still get abortion pills by mail in Georgia. Abortion is banned in most cases in Georgia, but know that you still have options.
ATHENS, GA (NOV. 17, 2025) —As the Georgia Bulldogs and Texas Longhorns faced off this past weekend, attendees looking up were reminded: abortion pills are available by mail, even in abortion-banned Georgia.
An aerial banner reading “Abortion pills by mail” flew over Sanford Stadium on Saturday, a part of a campaign powered by Mayday Health, an abortion pill education nonprofit. The banner aimed to rise above abortion pill stigma and misinformation — quite literally.
“Folks hear ‘abortion ban’ and may think they are out of choices. To be clear, if you are pregnant and do not want to be, you have options,” says Mayday Health’s Executive Director Liv Raisner. “Whether it’s our flyover over the UGA v Texas game, to our boat tours, gas station blitzes, and billboard campaigns, we’re in the business of getting life-saving health information into the hands of those who need it. Mail order abortion pills are safe, FDA approved and accessible nationwide, no matter where you live.”
Georgia enforces one of the country’s harshest abortion bans, restricting care after six weeks—before most people even know they are pregnant. At the same time, increasing maternal care deserts in rural Georgia mean the pathways for pregnant folks to access lifesaving care continue to narrow.
Saturday’s flyover campaign reached an estimated 93,000+ in-person attendees, plus millions more tuning in on national broadcast.
